The New Farm Centre has been a hub of regenerative growing and educational gathering for over 20 years. The Centre is the first vegetable farm in Canada to be Regenerative Organic Certified, the highest standard of regenerative practice in the world. At this field day, participants will join the NFC team for a first-hand look at their vegetable and livestock production, and hear how they share about their regenerative growing practices with other farmers and the broader community.<\/p>\n

The tour will culminate with an in-depth look at the New Farm\u2019s hoop house production. Participants will see first-hand how they set-up to grow approximately 30,000 organic cucumbers each year, for sale through wholesale and retail channels. In addition to the NFC team, Norm Eygenraam ofMulti-Shelter Solutions<\/a><\/strong>will join the group to share his nearly 50 years of experience in hoop house sales and support. Using the New Farm\u2019s structures as examples, Norm will be able to offer perspectives and considerations on structure, set-up, costing and more. Participants are encouraged to bring their questions about their own hoop house needs.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re considering establishing or upgrading your indoor growing, this field day is for you!<\/p>\n

Following the tour, participants will gather for informal conversation over a pizza lunch in the New Farm\u2019s on-farm kitchen and community gathering space.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Come help us plant trees in our new silvopasture area for our regenerative cattle herd! \u00a0We will be planting a new area of the farm in silvopasture. Silvopasture is a regenerative agroforestry practice that intentionally integrates trees, forage\/pasture, and livestock on the same land, increasing biodiversity, improving soil health, providing shade and food for animals, while sequestering 5\u201310 times more carbon than conventional pastures.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This hands-on event will feature demonstrations of practices such as managing cover crops with livestock, pastured poultry production, minimal till vegetable production and mechanization of leafy greens harvesting.<\/span><\/p>\n
