Farms For Change Posted by The New Farm October 1st, 2020

Even though it looked different than what we are used to, Farms for Change 2020 happened Together but Apart. On Saturday, September 26, 2020, the incredible team at Richmond Station served 400 meals to people’s homes in Toronto, the GTA, Creemore, Collingwood, Barrie and Thornbury and the Farms for Change community came together online for a virtual event to celebrate and raise over $70,000 for FARMS FOR CHANGE.

Thank you to Sam Roberts Band, Paul Langlois of The Tragically Hip, and Sarah Harmer for curating playlists for the event. These playlists provided the soundtrack for the evening and made us feel like we were together in the barn! This event would not have been made possible without our incredible sponsors and community partners who all had a role to play in the event’s success. Thank you to Paradigm, Neal Brothers, Richmond Station, Dillon’s, Creemore Springs Brewery, Currie’s Farm Market, Bruce Wine Bar, 100km Foods, Common Good Cafe & Social House, Blundstones, The Creemore Echo, Elevation Pictures, Yorkshire Valley Farms, Georgian Communities, 48 North, The 100km Store, The Chris Keleher Team, EVNT MGMT and Armstrong for your contributions.  We can’t wait to see you back on the farm in 2021!

At The New Farm, it’s our ongoing mission to promote local, regenerative farming and to change the world with the power of food. But right now the situation is dire. Good food organizations like The Stop and Community Food Centres Canada are overwhelmed by demand. Restaurants have shut down, and the local farms that supplied them are struggling.

That’s where you come in. Even though we can’t get together on the farm this year, we are asking our amazing community of supporters to donate to Farms for Change so that we can continue to send fresh, organic produce to community food centres and keep local farms producing during this trying time.

Last year, our Farms for Change event raised $150,000. That’s an impressive number! Due to the increased demand and unusual circumstances this year, it’s our urgent goal to meet that target yet again. With your help, we know we can do it!

A special thanks to our loyal sponsors who continue to generously support Farms for Change (even when there’s no party!).

And thanks to the wonders of modern technology, there may be a way for all of us to get together this fall – stay tuned.
